The week that was: Ryan, a versatile 5-foot-9, 170-pound junior, shifted from starting fullback to tailback Friday in a 55-25 demolition of Downingtown West and didn’t miss a beat, rushing for 93 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries and adding 32 yards receiving on 3 catches.

For an encore against the Whippets, Ryan successfully converted 7 of 8 PATs to add to his impressive placekicking totals – 13-for-15 on PAT kicks, 3-for-3 on field goal attempts (41, 39, 32 yards) to help PV get off to a 2-1 start.

Klimek also boomed a pair of kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks to continue his outstanding special teams work that includes a punting average of 37 yards on three punts.

"Ryan has been doing a really nice job for us so far in a variety of roles,” PV coach Rob Heist said. “We've had to shuffle him around to different positions and he's been called upon often as a kicker and punter on Special Teams.”

Coming off a season-high 114 rushing yards on 11 carries in a 35-27 Week 2 loss to Coatesville, Klimek found the end zone on runs of 7, 40 and 1 yard vs. D-West to improve his season rushing total to 293 yards on 33 carries with four TDS – an eye-popping average of 8.9 yards per attempt.

Ryan has also been a reliable passing target for senior quarterback Ethan Kohler with 10 catches for 145 yards and another TD.

His performance on the playing field may only be exceeded by his work in the classroom, where the AP honor student holds a 4.0 GPA according to Heist.

Ryan is an absolute pleasure as a kid and as a player,” Heist said. “He is coachable, reliable, dedicated and mentally tough.  He has been absorbing information and awaiting his turn and when the moment presented itself he took full advantage of it.  We look forward to Ryan continuing to grow and improve as he moves forward as an emerging leader on our football team."
